The Paraguay River is the right tributary of the Parana. In turn, it branches out further and one of the most important tributaries is the Verde River. The first specimens of Opacus Rataj were found in the basin of the Verde River and presented by Karel Rataj in 1999. The leaves are dark green, very tough, broadly lanceolate, with a pointed tip. The veins are clearly visible. Young leaves are light green.[1]
