    Ecology

    Grows in palm swamps, flooded forests along blackwater rivers and small streams in Tierra firme. From sea level to 450 m.

    Morphology General habit

    Perennial, from erect rhizomes, glabrous, up to 100 cm, rhizomes up to 10 cm long, 1 cm diam.
